18 Welcome to the future of work By Gero Brinkbäumer, COSMO CONSULT-Group When our grandparents tell us how they used to go to work, it seems like a very distant world. But, in fact, we don‘t have to look back that far to realise: the world of work has changed profoundly. Today, it is quite normal that work is not tied to a specific location. No matter where col- leagues, business partners or customers ac- tually are: you can simply meet virtually. That alone would have been science fiction 20 years ago. But, modern working has much more to offer and a revolution plays the lead- ing role in this. At the centre: People We are talking about digitalisation. Digi- tal tools have changed our lives so much and so quickly that the term „revolution“ is not an overstatement. As is so of ten the case with such upheavals, their origin lies in technology: what was a supercomputer just a few years ago is now in every stan- dard PC or laptop. In the meantime, even systems with ar tificial intelligence that learn from corporate knowledge and help us make bet ter business decisions are quite normal. Uwe Bergmann, CEO of the COSMO CONSULT Group and thus also the mas- termind behind one of the world‘s largest digitalisation specialists, sees less of a fo- cus on technology, however. For him, it is about modern office and business solutions creating freedom and helping people to realise their potential in their work. „That is the crucial point and at the same time the great opportunity that lies in the new way of working,“ says Bergmann. „People are at the centre. It‘s all about them, about having fun at work and working together in an inspiring and creative way.“ Success needs creative minds The fact that employees are not mere re- sources but living beings with their own goals, desires and talents is the basic idea of modern working. In a rapidly developing world with great opportunities, but also great challenges for the future, it is people‘s creative ideas that determine business suc- cess. Therefore, a modern workplace must first and foremost provide the general condi- tions needed for the release and promotion of human creativity. First of all, it is about making work easier. Modern solutions are designed in such a way that they can be operated intuitive- ly and are tailored to the personal field of activity.
