Unternehmen & Trends 1/2023

26 An intelligent machine that drives process digitalization, identifies problems and assists in decision-making – it was not so long ago that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was born. Since then, as is often the case in these fastpaced times, a lot has changed. We have already passed significant milestones in the field of artificial intelligence, and it is hard to imagine life without it. New year – new trends While revolutions used to be spaced decades apart, nowadays „life-changing“ trends are constantly emerging. Research is continually bringing innovations to the market or presenting developments in existing technologies. This has gone so far that systems are already developing themselves. Called generative AI, in which the basis of artificial intelligence is supplemented with deep learning and sophisticated algorithms in order to evolve itself - a self-learning system that renders external intervention by developers superfluous. The trending tool ChatGPT precisely exploits this property. A human-like output of responses can be achieved using additional linguistic data processing. ChatGPT with respect to its assessment of future trends: In terms of the future, ChatGPT cannot make any clear predictions, as this depends on many factors that cannot be predicted. Some developments, however, are already emerging and will become more significant, such as advancing digitalization and sustainability. Monitoring and adapting to these trends is important in order to meet future challenges. AI – Creative Intelligence? While this „human interaction“ initially appealed to first movers, the added value became more and more evident over time and, at the latest when the subject reached social media, it became more interesting for the general public. Ever since, the possibilities of ChatGPT have appeared limitless and have been distributed to various applications. This hype also meant that other tools were not far behind. Images are generated with just a few keywords and existing photos are transformed into videos with prefabricated texts. In everyday use, the setting is now irrelevant. Politicians have speeches written for them, marketers use the technology for SEO optimisation, and artists are no longer commissioned to create artwork; instead, an AI is consulted. The French DJ and music producer David Guetta is using an AI platform to write lyrics in the style of Eminem, and a further platform is being used to have the lyrics performed by the rapper‘s imitated voice. Guetta believes that artificial intelligence is the future of the music industry, although only as a supporting tool. (Don’t) hate it – automate it This is exactly how AI technology will find its way into our everyday lives - as a useful tool AI trends – the issue of added value There is no need to follow each and every trend. Quite the contrary, it is more important to critically consider emerging innovations and weigh them up for the particular, personal situation. Why is the rapid rise of ChatGPT nevertheless showing that digitalization is not to be disregarded. Image: © Khakimullin Aleksandr/shutterstock.com
