The results can then be used to evaluate whether the seal can compensate for the deformation of the components or whether design mod- ifications need to be made. These may be changes to the number of screws or the position of the screws. The colored image shows the stress distribution in the com- ponents. Blue areas are under light stress, while yellow and red areas are exposed to higher stress. This method is very help- ful for the product development depart- ment, as the results provide information on whether certain areas of the compo- nent need to be specifically reinforced or whether it may be possible to save material elsewhere.
