116 News HUBER+SUHNER One-stop shop for future-proof high power charging How to encourage people to drive electric vehicles? The increas- ing number of DC fast charging stations along the highways and in cities is one of the factors that has promoted the further tran- sition to electric vehicles (EVs). IEE S.A. Safe Pupil Transportation with LiDAS (Life Detection Assistance System) Children inadvertently left behind on school or day care vehicles is a daunting reality in the United States. The problem persists despite state governments mandating that drivers are not to leave children on such vehicles and with the addition of some equipment to assist the driver to keep track of bus capacity. However, the high power charging (HPC) market continues to search for innovative solutions that can further reduce charging time while delivering reliable and superior performance. Charging station manufacturers worldwide are preparing for the further expan- sion of the charging infrastructure and need systems that can meet existing and future requirements. To complement its RADOX® HPC portfolio, HUBER+SUHNER has recently launched the new RA- DOX HPC200 cable system that is designed for the continuous uncooled charging of electric ve- hicles with a rated current of 200 Amperes (A) and a peak current of up to 300 A. The system is ideal for charging stations in cities and on highways, in shopping centers, hotels and fleet charging stations. The HPC200 is initially available with the CCS2 interface. The RADOX HPC200 has similar features as the recently launched RADOX HPC500. The ergonomic design and the reduced weight of the connector, as well as the flex- ibility of the cable, … The fact remains that school fleets need reinforced technology to pre- vent such accidents that can cost children’s lives. IEE responds to this needwith LiDAS (Life Detection As- sistance System). It’s a particularly effective sensor-based solution using low-level radio frequency to detect signs of life inside the school vehicle after the driver has left. Based on the pattern of the received signal, the sensor array can clearly differentiate between beings and objects. Where human actions or other types of technology can fail, the sophisticated software algo- rithm of LiDAS even detects chil- dren whether they hide under a school bus/van seat or have fallen asleep under a blanket. It works in any lighting situation and functions in any temperature. Easy tomount on the vehicle ceiling, LiDAS is a turn-key, comprehensive system. Sensors are connected to a Central Control Unit that includes a wireless communication block/ card and a Simple Driver Interface with three LEDs with Operational Acknowledgement Button. All this technology enables LiDAS … Read more … t1p.de/ft96 Read more … t1p.de/iknb Image: © HUBER+SUHNER Image: © IEE S.A. BENTELER Automotive BENTELER and Silver Atena get exhaust systems ready for EU-7 standard The electrically heated catalytic converter from BENTELER ensures almost 100% pollutant removal during cold starts in all cars with internal combustion engines. It is already in compli- ance with the strict pollutant requirements of the EU-7 standard. The European Union vehicle emis- sion requirements are becoming increasingly stringent. The EU-7 standard, which will come into force at the latest in 2025, will re- quire car manufacturers to make further significant reductions in pollutants. With electrically heated catalysts from BENTELER, car manufacturers can benefit from an almost complete reduc- tion of pollutant emissions during a cold start. In cooperation with electronics specialist Silver Atena, BENTELER will also offer a coordi- nated system with a control unit. The electrically heated catalyst ensures that the exhaust system quickly reaches its optimum op- erating temperature during a cold start. As a result, almost 100% of pollutants are removed from the exhaust gases. This plays an important role in the context of the pollutant tests, especially given future driving cycles where greater weight will be applied to the cold start phase.
