135 date, agreed delivery date (date, time), place of delivery and delivery point with address, un- loading point number and plant code. Determining missing data by simulation The difficulty for the supplier is that the trans- port notification must already contain com- plete information on the composition of the delivery for transport to the OEM. In practice it proves to be very complicated to determine this, since at the time the transport notification is created and transmitted, not all parts and components for the shipment are usually pro- duced and packed. The missing information was determined either by estimation or on the basis of empirical values. WSW Software's SPEEDI platform, which en- hances SAP standard processes seamlessly and without modifications, provides a simple and efficient way for suppliers using SAP software to determine the missing information. Module 616 that provides SPEEDI as "out of the box" toolbox – in addition to more than 1,400 further configurable and reusable modules – calculates outstanding information according to the packaging regulation by simulation. The delivery note and transport data from SAP is used for costing. This SPEEDI module is also used to complete the packing structure in the SAP transport messages (SHPMNT IDoc), from which the transport notification is created according to VDA 4933. This ensures that the transport no- tification already contains all the information on the shipment and packaging correctly and completely. The information should be the same as in the advanced shipping notification (VDA 4987), which is sent to the OEM as soon as the goods are completely packed and leave the yard. WSW Software provides the re- spective mappings or mapping specifications so that the supplier can create his transport notification with regard to composition, struc- ture and content according to the different requirements of the OEMs, for example BMW or Volkswagen. Linking the Transport ID with SAP But that is not all: The EDI-based communica- tion model of VDA 4933 provides for the for- warding agent to transmit a transfer order confirmation to the OEM, which is provided with a unique transport ID. The supplier must link this transport ID, with which the current status of a material or container in the trans- portation chain can be tracked at any time, with the SHPMNT IDoc in his SAP software and then specify it in the advanced shipping notification (VDA 4987). WSW Software's ex- perts will develop their own SPEEDI solution once the guidelines for processing the trans- port ID have been established.
