OEM&Lieferant Ausgabe 2/2018 / OEM&Supplier Edition 2/2018

123 electric vehicles from different manufacturers, HUBER+SUHNER offers its HVDUs in modular form with various levels. Automotive manufac- turers are able to use a standard HVDU version that is nonetheless highly flexible in terms of its dimensions. This results in a power distribu- tion solution that remains cost effective even at smaller unit quantities and can be delivered rapidly thanks to the flexible manufacturing options. The HDVU can also be combined with the RACS shielded high-voltage connection system. With less than seven milliohm electri- cal resistance between the shielding from the connector to the high-voltage distributor, the system boasts a high current carrying capacity and requires very little installation space. Both the HDVU and RACS are certified to protection class IP6K9K against direct contact or the in- gress of solids or liquids. Products installed in the engine compartment of road vehicles in particular require a high level of durability to protect against a wide range of environmental influences and tem- perature variations while also resisting liquids ranging from engine oils and detergents to condensation and aggressive saltwaters. Sys- tem cables used in the automotive sectors must therefore often be sealed using expensive and time-consuming processes. The sole ex- ception is cables that themselves provide a barrier against the ingress of liquids. As a sol- ution partner to the automotive industry, HUBER+SUHNER offers both anti-capillary and high-voltage cables with patented RADOX ® technology and the innovative second generation of the RACS automotive connection system. The portfolio of high-voltage cables for auto- motive solutions is divided into single core and multi-core cables. Thanks to their special prop- erties, cables with RADOX ® material do not require any additional protection for the outer sheath. The electron-beam crosslinking process combines insulation and sheath material in one material structure in a way that provides maxi- mum resistance against mechanical wear, moisture, aggressive liquids (for example, en- gine oil, petrol, diesel, battery acid, brake fluid), ozone and weather influences. RADOX ® high- voltage cables can therefore be used in tem- peratures ranging from -40 °C to +150 °C (3,000 hours) without additional sealing and without any loss of their electrical properties. In temperatures of up to 120 °C, RADOX ® auto- motive cables provide an increased service life of up to 24,000 hours, which enables their use in utility vehicles, buses and tractors. Whatever requirements the expansion of e-mobility, autonomous driving and the trans- formation from manufacturers to mobility providers may bring, HUBER+SUHNER‘s role as a leading partner to the automotive indus- try means that it is ideally prepared for the mobile future. By drawing on its development expertise, HUBER+SUHNER will continue to offer reliable innovations in the key tech- nologies of modern vehicle development, such as high-speed data, RF-over-fiber, RF an- tenna technology and high-voltage energy distribution.
