96 IT and Automotive SAP S/4HANA and WSW solutions: Benefits and investment security through interaction By Christoph Keppler, Head of SAP Business Unit, WSW Software GmbH SAP S/4HANA changes the SAP process world of a company. The software suite can be used to actively design the digital transformation, but on the other hand process gaps open up, such as in electronic logistics processing between the automotive supplier and manufacturer or in customs and foreign trade. The innovative IT solutions of WSW Software close these gaps: the SAP-based platform SPEEDI for SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA and the solution JUNIQ only designed for SAP S/4HANA. Together they increase the efficiency and agility of the processes and create the greatest possible investment security. Image/Graphic: ©WSW Software GmbH Companies that are using SAP ERP or SAP Business Suite use SAP S/4HANA as the tool of choice to manage the challenges of the dig- ital transformation. The ERP software suite works with in-memory technology, allows for real-time processes and analyses, net- works processes in the value creation chain and, thanks to modern SAP-Fiori interfaces (SAPUI5), is particularly user friendly. SAP S/4HANA changes the process world According to the current investment survey of the German-speaking SAP user group, DSAG – 40 percent of SAP customers are planning to migrate to SAP S/4HANA in the next three years. But the introduction is not without its pitfalls, because it entails changes in the pro- cess landscape, which also affect the existing enhancements and add-ons. In certain areas, the new ERP software suite also has gaps, for example in the EDI-sup- ported logistics processing between suppli- ers and automotive manufacturers (OEM). There is also uncertainty about where the EDI and shipping messages will be generated in the future. In SAP S/4HANA, SAP EWM or in the SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM)? Until this question is clarified, it is recommended to keep using the SAP Lo- gistic Execution Transportation (LE-TRA) application. There are also deficits in customs and for- eign trade management: The solution SAP S/4HANA for International Trade, which re- places the “traditional” foreign trade com- ponents, does not offer any functions for the preference calculation and for managing long-term supplier declarations. Investment security with SPEEDI and JUNIQ IT solutions from WSW Software offer help, especially the proven SAP-based platform SPEEDI and the process-oriented solution JUNIQ based on the latest SAP technologies, which is exclusively designed for operation with SAP S/4HANA. Companies that use SPEEDI and JUNIQ simul- taneously under SAP S/4HANA benefit from the greatest possible investment security and therefore future security. This is proven by the following examples: SPEEDI closes process gaps SPEEDI closes the gaps in SAP S/4HANA, such as for the electronic logistics processes or for customs and foreign trade management, and maps existing processes. A transition package makes it possible for the platform to also run on SAP S/4HANA and allows the smooth in- teraction with this ERP software suite. The SPEEDI functions are designed for the new data structures for this purpose. The challenging processes involved in the pref- erence calculation can be implemented with the SPEEDI solution “Preference calculation” with IT support and therefore can be carried out efficiently and transparently. The “Pref- erence calculation” expands SAP S/4HANA for International Trade without modifications. In addition, SPEEDI is the lower cost alterna- tive to SAP GTS and the dual data retention required when using a third-party IT solution alongwith its disadvantages is also eliminated. The special highlights include the EDI-based logistics processes of most automotive man- ufacturers stored in SPEEDI as OEM solutions. The logistics requirements and the release order logic of numerous OEMs, including all forms, are mapped “out of the box” here so that all information from a delivery schedule, including the additional data (for example Whether the migration to SAP S/4HANA occurs via a new introduction (greenfield) or a system conversion (brownfield), or whether it is a one-step or two-step migration: getting support from a reliable partner is crucial for ensuring that the change is as smooth as possible. Christoph Keppler, Head of SAP Business Unit at WSW Software, explains how you can prepare for this process and close any process gaps that may arise in your logistics processes. S H A R E
