In addition, over-the-air updates ensure that the vehicles are always state-of-the-art throughout their entire service life. The Cock- pit Intelligence Platform integrates a number of key technologies, including software, audio, infotainment and connectivity solutions from Parrot Faurecia Automotive and Faurecia Co- agent Electronics. Faurecia also unveiled the world’s first large-format free-form HD display at CES 2019 in Las Vegas. Based on advanced mecha- tronics and kinematics, this display offers unique new possibilities for occupants. For example, if the driver changes from driving mode to autonomous mode, the instrument panel adjusts continuously to his position. The display leaves the instrument panel and then forms a large central screen. This new polymorphic instrument panel, which is no longer limited by traditional rectangular for- mats, offers automobile manufacturers com- pletely new possibilities for design inside the cockpit. In driving mode, for example, the display can be used as a combination instrument to display driving information and safety instructions and as a central screen for navigation and me- dia. In autonomous mode, it transforms into a large-format entertainment screen for a re- laxed journey. In combination with front seats that can be swiveled inwards, this creates a new kind of “car cinema” that can be enjoyed by all occupants together. Andreas Wlasak Andreas Wlasak has been Vice President Industrial Design at Faurecia since 2003. He has been in charge of all activities in the area of design and is a key driving force behind developments in the Cockpit of the Future. It was established in 1980 as a joint venture between Bluhm Systeme GmbH and the U.S. company Weber Marking Systems Inc. Based in Rheinbreitbach, Germany, the BluhmWeber Group develops and markets labelling and identification technology and offers tailored system solutions for industrial marking. Traditional applications can be seen in production and logistics – without information being printed directly or provided by a label, it would be impossible to distribute and deliver products and goods. Marking is also essential to be able to trace products. The Group has production and sales facilities across the globe. In addition to its production facilities in Rheinbreit- bach, it has eight branches in Europe alone, including four with production capacity. There is also a wider distribu- tion network with 56 business partners in total spread around the globe. As part of the BluhmWeber Group, Bluhm Leasing provides „funding and system solutions all in one place“ and is also an employee-participation model that has been in action for over 25 years.
