46 Yanfeng showcases future interior experiences for autonomous rideshare XiM20 offers interiors for autonomous rideshare vehicles By Han Hendriks, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Yanfeng Technology Yanfeng, a leading global automotive supplier, unveiled its new Experience in Motion 2020 (XiM20) con- cept car for the first time in Europe. This is a fully autonomous rideshare concept, offering new con- sumer experiences which are customizable to passenger’s preferences to better suit their journeys. XiM20 is a reflection of the most in-depth primary research the company has done to date. For the development of the next generation of the XiM concept car, it was important to evaluate us- ers’ wants and needs within the vehicle and outside of the mobil- ity context. The insights gleaned from our research defined which factors impact consumers’ quality of life and what creates memorable, engag- ing experiences. With the XiM20, advanced technologies and product innovations complement intuitive design, providing flexibility and comfort for the autonomous rideshare passengers of tomorrow. By camouflaging the demonstrator’s screens and naviga- tion systems within the surfaces of interior concept using intelligent surface technol- ogies, passengers can choose whether or not to engage with the innovations around them. As an industry leader, we have the capa- bilities to provide holistic total interior solutions. At the start of the development of this generation of the XiM we asked our- selves whether featuring every product and technology available within this inte- rior offers added value. Our research said “no.” Instead, we needed to learn to under- stand which solutions in automotive are engaging and positively surprising, without being overly complex.
