17 nal combustion engines elsewhere in Eu- rope. Some manufacturers - e.g. VW - have fully aligned their product strategy with the battery electric drive. VW intends to sell 22 million battery electric vehicles worldwide by 2028. Some manufacturers are open to other technology and also develop bat- tery-independent electric drives. At the forefront of this trend are drives that use hydrogen fuel cells. Fuel cell technol- ogy is not new. Intensive research has been carried out since themid-nineties and for a long time it has been considered the driv- ing alternative to the classic combustion engine. The main advantage is that the drive is absolutely emission-free. Only wa- ter vapor escapes from the exhaust. Even in terms of range and duration of the re- fueling process, the fuel cell has the edge compared to the battery electric drive. Another positive aspect for employees in the automotive and supply industry is that the production and manufacture of the fuel cell is in many ways similar to the pro- duction of the internal combustion engine. The fuel cell requires significantly more metallic components than a battery-elec- tric drive. The added value, especially in the supply industry, could be redistributed within the industry and thus at least par- tially secured. The fact that fuel cell technology can do without a battery is a very important as- pect of the operation of commercial vehi- cles. The still very heavy batteries for large ranges reduce the payload required for economical operation. The long charging times of the rechargeable batteries reduce the operating times and question the eco- nomically sensible use. This strongly sug- gests that hydrogen will be indispensable for long-haul and heavy-haulage traffic in the future. In the meantime, the Federal Government has also taken this into account. Thus, the buyer’s premium of 6.000 € expressly applies to cars with fuel cell drive. An in- centive program for commercial vehicles is being planned. Again, the federal gov- ernment will not be able to avoid the pro- motion of hydrogen technology. The use of synthetic fuels would also have to be con- sidered by politicians, because then we would have an immediate reduction of CO 2 and the technology of the burner would not be called into question. If the German automotive industry wants tomaintain its leading position internation- ally, it must be open to the development of non-fossil drive systems. A look at the main sales markets shows this. China, the world’s largest market, has probably set its sights on battery electric mobility due to state regulation. The North Americanmarket also seems to be heading in this direction. In view of their resource scarcity, countries such as Japan and South Korea think much more openly and rely on battery-independent drive systems such as hydrogen technology. In order to serve all markets worldwide, the German automotive industry needs prod- ucts in all drive types. This is the only way we can maintain our export and thus our international competitiveness. Weiterlesen … https://t1p.de/ri8q Summary Contact https://autoregion.eu/de/ contact autoregion e.V. https://autoregion.eu/de Events 2020 January 22th Kickoff 2020 „5-years autoregion e.V.“ with the Minister of Economic Affairs Anke Rehlinger, The President of CLEPA and representatives of the VDA February 4th Automotive Connect 2020, in Frankfurt am Main March 5th Political scientist and sinologist Prof. Dr. Sebastian Heilmann: “China‘s rise and the challenge for Europe” March 19th Information TISAX – the new standard for information security in the automotive industry March Astronaut Thomas Reiter: the earth – our blue planet Mai Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh: Future Mobility May 27th General Assembly Meeting (only for members) June Opening of the first H2 filling station in Saarland followed by a large hydrogen information day 18th of June Automtive Day together with FZI RLPF (June 15-26 / Festgelände + Zweibrücken Airport) 26th June Summer party with Detlef Schönauer Veranstaltungen 2020 January 22th Kickoff 2020 „5-Jahre autoregion e.V.“ mit Wirtschaftsministerin Rehlinger, Präsident CLEPA, Repräsentanten des VDA 04.
