11 Importance of the Grand-Est region in the interplay with the Greater Region in the area of the automotive supply industry By Catherine Robinet, Consul General of the Republic of France in Saarland The current lively “French strategy” and the close cooperation between France and Saarland are especially important for economic cooperation in the business sector. Grand-Est with around 400 companies, including well-known companies in the French automotive industry, in which around 150,000 people work, and the con- struction of future-oriented automobiles in the field of new drive technologies in Ham- bach, as well as the manufacture of elec- tric motors in Trémery set a significantly positive course for automotive technology. It is precisely the rapprochement in the car region with German and Luxembourg companies that spurs the course for fu- ture mobility. As Consul General, I am pleased with the steadily growing cooper- ation between French and German com- panies and the positive change in the area of finance.
